I really do miss New Orleans. Having lived Uptown, at the turn of the century, and to have experienced the Mardi gras yearly, was like no other experience. It was such a rich American culture. The Madi gras season, and the partying, practically all the month of February, helped us get through the dark and gloomy days of winter.
I am happy that I had XM Radio through this weekend; because they were throwing it down all weekend long! The music and the parades are the best! I can't decide if I like the tuba or trombone better? It's clearly a toss up. If you have never been, you need to attend at least once in your life.
So I stepped out to celebrate at one of my favorite watering holes Kimbro's Pickin' Parlor, located less than 2 miles from my house. Tuesday nights just turns out to be the 'deconstructed open mic night' anyways. So throw in a "Fat Tuesday" and let the revelry begin.
We had a few beers, sang some songs and finished up with some Jambalaya. In fact we hit up two servings of it. I came home, ate some king cake and went to bed. Boo yah!
